Stand on と Stand at の違いについて教えてください。
何人かに聞いたのですが、それぞれ回答が違っていました。ある人は「どちらも同じ意味」で、ある人は「Stand atは、~の側に立つ」で「Stand onは、~の上に立つ」。また、「I stand at the top of the mountain.」という表現もありますよね? どういう使い方がベターでしょうか?

すみませんですが、実は「側に立つ」はstand next toとかstand besideなどです。stand atは「どこどこに立つ」です。
ですから、I stand at the top of the mountain.は「私は山の上に立ちます」になります。でもこの文では「山の上」は立っている場所です。もっとはっきり説明するために「山の上」じゃなくて「山頂」にしたら「私は山頂に立ちます」になります。その文では「山頂に」は「どこどこに」ですのでstand atを使います。
I stand on top of the mountain. 「山頂に立ちます」
I stand on the mountain. 「山の上に立ちます」
