「現代的な考え」は英語で「modern way of thinking」と言います。「a modern idea」も言えます。「modern notion」は使えますし言っても通じますが、私は「way of thinking」などの方が使われていると思います。 オートメして人を雇う代わりに機械を使うのは、非常に現代的な考えです Using machines and automating your business instead of hiring people is a very modern notion.

It’s a very modern concept to use AI to characterize … 　contemporary / current / forward-looking / up-to-date などを選ぶと、より「狙った現代っぽさ」になります。 　 　 “notion” は「考え」という意味ですが、少し古風・評論っぽい響きになります。 学術っぽくしたいなら notion でもOKですが、一般には idea / concept / approach / way of thinking の方が自然です。
