「選択」はselectとかchooseなどと言います。「範囲」は普通にareaに訳していますが、上記の文にもareaは自然に使えますが、partの方がふさわしいです。
例文：When I'm reading English articles on my laptop, I copy and paste the part that I don't understand into Google to confirm the meaning.（パソコンを使って英語の記事を読んでいる時、わからない部分があるとその範囲を指定し、グーグル翻訳で日本語訳を確認しています。）
