例えば、外国の方に、"Tokyo is so popular, isn't it?"
と言われた時に、日本人にとってはそうでもないよ、あなたが思っているほどではないよ、と言いたいのですが、
"It's not as popular as you think" の popular を much に置き換えられますか？（同じ単語を使うのはスマートではないと聞いたことがある為）
popular でも much でも大丈夫ですよ。または次のようにも言えます。
ーNot to the extent that you might think.
「あなたが思うほどではないよ」
not to the extent で「〜なほどではない」
ーFor Japanese, it's not really like that.
「日本人にとってはそれほどでもないよ」
