落とし物をして、相手に思い違いをした物を伝えてしまったって英語でなんて言うの？

昨日、カギを落としてしまいました。そこに花の飾りがついていると言ってしまいましたが、思い出してみると、貝殻の飾りでした。思い違いをして伝えてしまいました。
- I dropped my key(s) yesterday. I said that there was a flower ornament on it but after I thought about it, there's actually a seashell ornament on it. I gave them the wrong description because I remembered wrongly.

おっしゃられている内容は、以下のようにも表現できると思いました(^_^)
短く1文に情報を凝縮してみました。
I mistakenly gave the person the wrong information about the item I lost yesterday.
「私は誤ってその人に昨日私がなくした物について間違った情報を伝えてしまった」

mistakenly「誤って」
wrong「間違った」

「思い違いをした物」＝「the misremembered item」ですが、ちょっと不自然です。なので、「the wrong item」＝「間違ったもの」を使います。「思い違いをした物」と言うニュアンスがしますから、いい表現だと思います。
