live up toは評判や期待についてよく使う表現ですね。
例えば、
to live up to a person's expectations
人の期待にこたえる
to live up to one's reputation
評判どおりに振る舞う
worth the hypeは少し、もっとカジュアルな表現ですが、
特に、今流行っている映画、レストラン、経験とかについて使います。
評判通り良かったよ！と言いたいときに、
It lives up to its reputation!や
It was worth the hype
のどちらを使っていいです！

この場合、次のような言い方ができますよ。
A: I went to that new restaurant by the waterfront yesterday.

このように言うのが自然で良いかなと思います。
