「これはりんごだよ」「これはにんじんだよ」って英語でなんて言うの?

子どもとご飯を食べていて、話しかけるとき「これはりんごだよ(カット済みのもの)」や「これはにんじんだよ(カット済みで料理に合えてあるもの)」は、なんと言えばいいでしょう? 「This is an apple.」や「This is a carrot.」だと、丸ごと1つになってしまいますよね?

KEIKOさんのおっしゃる通り、「This is an apple.」や「This is a carrot.」だと丸ごと1個の意味になります。 この場合、This is apple/carrot. と言うのが自然ですよ。 または These are pieces of apple/carrot. とも言えますが、私なら This is apple/carrot. と言います。 ご参考まで!
