I had hoped it would live up to expectations...but its "not as sweet as it looks"
We often make comments on what we eat! and sometimes things
CAN LOOK GREAT, Yet fail to" tickle the palate" in the way we had hoped
or imagined.
Its is perfectly alright to voice slight disappointment, when this happens...
Sometimes a desert is simply...".Not as sweet as it looked"
Ps Why not try another;-))
Not as sweet as it looked"(見た目ほど甘くない)ことがあります。
In British English we can use the phrase 'not as .... as I thought' for many things that surprised us and was not as we expected it to be. For example:
"That movie was not as good as I thought"
"The food was not as bad as I thought it would be"
"It didn't make me as sad as I thought"
"I felt much more happier than I thought I would"
"That movie was not as good as I thought"
"The food was not as bad as I thought it would be"
"It didn't make me as sad as I thought"
"I felt much more happier than I thought I would"
Often desserts can look incredibly delicious. It can be easy to imagine in your mind and on your taste buds how it will taste and how deliciously sweet it will be. Often these thoughts are accompanied with disappointment as in fact, the dessert is "not as sweet as it looks!" Therefore when you have high expectations about a dessert or indeed anything the response can be it "it's not as ..... as it looked" eg it's not as hot as it looked.
It's not as hot as it looked.(思ったほど辛くない)
