〜の理由が何か、まったく思い付かないって英語でなんて言うの？

日常会話です。
東京大学の学生の男女比は8:2だそうです。人口の男女比は約半分なのに、なぜこんなに差ががあるのか、理由がまったく思い当たりません。
→この内容を英語で言いたいです。この文脈での思い当たらないは、わからないとはちょっと違います。

この場合、次のような言い方ができます。
ーI can't think of any possible reason why this is the case.
「なぜこうなるのか理由が全く思いつかない」

例：
It seems like the ratio of men to women at Tokyo University is 8 to 2, even though the ratio among the general population in Japan is approximately 50:50.  I can't think of any possible reason why there is such a big difference at the university.
「日本人の一般（男女）人口比は約半分なのに、東京大学の男女比は8:2のようだ。なぜ東大でそんなに大きな差ががあるのか理由が思い当たらない」
