Hey Konan! また「a friend of mine」とも言えます。 I'm looking for a souvenir for a friend I'm looking for a gift for a friend I'm looking for a souvenir for a friend of mine

I am looking for something special for my friend. I am looking for a gift for my friend.

"Souvenirs"or "Mementos or "Keepsakes" all mean the same thing, a little gift to remind someone of your trip to a certain place. There are a few different ways to ask a shop assistant. "Please help me find "souvenirs" for my friends!" "Can you help me find "mementos" for my friends?" "I am interested in buying some "keepsakes" for my friends!"
"Please help me find "souvenirs" for my friends!"(私の友人に渡すおみやげを選ぶのを手伝ってください。) "Can you help me find "mementos" for my friends?"(私の友人に渡すおみやげを選ぶのを手伝っていただけますか?) "I am interested in buying some "keepsakes" for my friends!"(私の友人に渡すおみやげを買うことに興味があります。)

  • I am specifically looking for souvenirs for my friends

  • I am looking for souvenirs specifically for my friends

Because you are not looking for anything else other than souvenirs, you have added the adverb 'specifically'. The reason for doing this is that without pointing out that souvenirs are exactly what you are looking for, the other person might probably not take you seriously and offer you items that might not be ideal souvenirs. In the second statement, you are stressing the point that the souvenirs are for your dear friends and not for your parents or uncles. They have to be ideal for friends. So you add: 'specifically for my friends'. Specifically is an adverb that means 'for a particular reason, purpose, etc'. You may also say: I bought this suit specifically to wear at the wedding.
なので、specifically for my friends と言います。 I bought this suit specifically to wear at the wedding.

  • I'm browsing for souvenirs for friends

Browsing' means looking in a shop or market or anywhere items are sold for something that you have in mind. You may seriously want to buy something or you may just be 'window shopping,' which means just looking out of interest at what is on offer. Salesman: "Good morning madam, may I be of assistance?" Woman: "No thank you, I'm just browsing."
Salesman: "Good morning madam, may I be of assistance?" Woman: "No thank you, I'm just browsing."
