・That's news to me. A: A new Italian restaurant is going to open here. (ここに新しいイタリアンの店ができるんだよ) B: That's news to me. I've never heard about that. A: Let's go to the ABC museum tomorrow. (明日ABC博物館に行こうよ) B: What's that? I've never heard about it.

  • It's my first time hearing it.

  • Really? I've never heard of that.

hear of 名詞 「~のことを耳にする」 heard of the news, heard of you のように使います。

If someone tells you something that you have never heard before, you can say: "Really? I didn't know that." "Really? This is news to me." "This is the first time I'm hearing this. I'm glad you told me."
I didn't know that." "Really? This is news to me." "This is the first time I'm hearing this. I'm glad you told me."

This is an idiom that we use to express surprise or wonder at new information. For example: A: Did you know that cows have four stomachs? B: I did not! You learn something new every day! Have a great day!

By saying this is the 'first' you have heard of it, explains that this is new information to you. The same goes for saying you have 'never' heard of that before. All of the above expressions can be said with an inflection of surprise and interest, to properly convey that you are receiving new information.

Example: "I have never heard that song before". or "I had not heard of that author until last week". another example : "It's the first I've heard of it". Meaning that you had not heard it until now. or "I hadn't heard of it until now!". Meaning that it is new to you, you just learn't of it.
例文: "I have never heard that song before". "I had not heard of that author until last week". その他の例文: "It's the first I've heard of it". "I hadn't heard of it until now!".

When someone is telling you some information that you haven't heard before, then you can say one of these two sentences. For example. Have you heard about Dave? No, what what about him? Well, from what I have heard... Wow, that is new to me. I hope this helps. Have a great day. Will

Use the sentences above to express that you are hearing a piece of information for the first time. When we learn new information about something from someone we can let them know we had no idea by using any of the sentences below. "I had no idea." "I learned of this for the first time today." "Wow, really? I would never have known!" "I really did not know that!" "I had no idea that Peter and Jane are married." novice: a person who is new to information, inexperienced
