日本では友引にはお葬式をしないのが一般的って英語でなんて言うの？
レッスン中、知り合いの親戚が１３日に亡くなりお葬式が２３日になった と先生に言うと、なんでそんなに時間がかかるのか？と聞かれ、うまく説明できませんでした。お葬式に良くない日 とされている日が、だいたい６日に１回暦にあるので、その日はだいたいの斎場が休みである。日本独特の迷信なのですが。と伝えたかったのですが。

In Japan, it is common not to hold funerals on days known as 'tomobiki', because it is said to be inauspicious.
「日本では、友引という日にはお葬式を行わないのが一般的です。理由は縁起が良くないとされるためです」という一文です。
inauspiciousは、unlucky、bad luckということ。
逆に、auspiciousは、lucky、good luckという意味になります。
「お葬式に良くない日とされている日が、だいたい６日に１回暦にあるので、その日はだいたいの斎場が休みである。日本独特の迷信なのですが」は、以下のように言えます：
- There is one 'tomobiki' day approximately every six days and many funeral halls are closed on those days. It's a superstition which is unique to Japan.

In our Japanese funeral custom,

we do not do funerals on the day called "Tomo-biki"

「日本の葬式の習慣では、友引、と呼ばれる日は不吉な日なので、葬式をしないのです。」と説明できると思います。友引の本来の意味としては、"It is believed that if we do funerals on Tomo-biki day, the dead would take some of his/her friends to hell with her." と説明すると分かり易いかもしれません。
