Hey Takashi! 「買う」ということを明確にする時に、 Get a new または Buy a newと言います。 Will you buy a new car? You gonna get a new car? How about this? I'll think about it. I'm thinking about going to America I'm thinking about getting a new car

Can I trade in an old vacuum cleaner for a new one? trade in A for Bは 「Aを下取りに出してBを購入する」 という意味です。

When you are thinking of buying a vacuum cleaner, you are not sure if you want to buy it yet, which means you are just looking at the vacuum cleaners. Here is a good way to express that thought: "I'm thinking of buying a new vacuum cleaner!"
thinking of buying a vacuum cleaner "I'm thinking of buying a new vacuum cleaner!"

  • My old vacuum cleaner has bitten the dust!

To bite the dust = To die, to expire. In context, if you are in town, buying a few different things and going in and out of many shops, any comment mentioning that an essential household appliance you have needs replacing will be taken as meaning that you are looking out for a new one. It is not necessary to say: "I want to buy a new vacuum cleaner." "My old vacuum cleaner has bitten the dust! Let's take a look in this electrical shop and see if they have any good ones!"
To bite the dust: I want to buy a new vacuum cleaner. や "My old vacuum cleaner has bitten the dust! Let's take a look in this electrical shop and see if they have any good ones!"

Vacuum means a space from which most or all of the matter has been removed, or where there is little or no matter . The given sentence is the simpliest and the best way to express yourself when you want to say you are thinking about buying a new vacuum.
