Homeの使い方
Homeは副詞で「家に」「家まで」という意味をすでに持っているので、toなどの前置詞を改めて置く必要はありません。I walk to thereと言わないのと同じです。

In these two expression you are letting the person you are speaking to what you did different than what you typically do in order to go to work. In the first expression you are most likely talking to someone who is familiar with your daily routine in order to go to work. In the second expression you are more likely talking to someone who is not familiar with your routine so you give them a bit more information "I usually do this...but today I wll do that..."
