What's the difference in usage between these two words?
使い分け = the difference between, distinguishing between, using two different things for different purposes
でも、文章によって一番いい英語が違うと思います。
例えば：
建前と本音を使い分ける
separate one's public and private selves
直訳すると「この2つの単語の違いはなに？」となります。
between という単語は、物理的な「間」だけではなく、今回のように、二つの言葉の意味の違いを聞くときに使います。What’s the difference between ~？で、～の後に来る単語はほぼ毎回２つになります。
例えば、What’s the difference between company and firm? を直訳すると「companyとfirmの違いは何ですか？」となります。
