In this case, the person is pretending that the tears are just water in their eyes.
2. Can you see anything in my eye? I can feel something in my eye.
In this case, the person is pretending that some foreign object in their eye is the casue of the tears.

そんな時には、次の表現が使えます。
1. My eyes are just watery for no reason.(目がどういうわけかうるうるなっているだけです)
ここでは、それは 'tears'(涙)ではなく 'water'(水)だとごまかしています。
2. Can you see anything in my eye? I can feel something in my eye.(目に何か見えますか。目に何か入っているような気がします)
ここでは、目に入った異物が涙の理由だとごまかしています。
