"I'm excited about being with you all for the next 6 months." says that you feel pleasure/ happiness because you will be around these particular people for the next 6 months.This is quite informal. If you want to be more formal, you might want to say: "I'm eagerly anticipating spending the next 6 months with you all." This mostly implies that you'll be doing some sort of work together over the next 6 months.

It does depend exactly what the role in the company would be, how this brief statement is worded. A company may well offer a more formal environment than a college.
