1. Give me a minute, I'm trying to remember When you use the phrase "give me a minute" you are saying to the person that you just need a minute to remember . 2. It's on the tip on my tongue. This expression is used in a situation when a person is trying to remember something, and they have almost remembered it, but not quite.
1. Give me a minute, I'm trying to remember 2. It's on the tip on my tongue.

A temporary mental lapse (humorously attributed to the gradual loss of one's mental faculties as one grows older). "Adults understand the idea of saving electricity, but are subject to occasional senior moments of forgetfulness." On the tip of one's tongue = almost but not quite brought to mind or spoken. "His name's on the tip of my tongue!"
. "Adults understand the idea of saving electricity, but are subject to occasional senior moments of forgetfulness." On the tip of one's tongue = ほぼ口から出かかっているけれど、はっきりとは思い出せなかったり、言えない 例文 "His name's on the tip of my tongue!"

  • I can't recall

  • I can't recall the last time I had a day off!

"Recall" is the ability to remember or "bring something to mind"... for most of us recalling minor details from the past .."can be a tricky business" Some lucky people have a "photographic memory" and have "instant /total recall" "I simply cannot recall the last time I had a day off"
“I simply cannot recall the last time I had a day off.”

  • Give me a minute.

  • I’m racking my brain.

    play icon

When you use the phrase ‘give me a minute’, you are letting the person know that you just need a little bit of time to think of the answer. You know the answer, you just can’t answer immediately. We say rack my brain when we need to think hard about something. Again, the information is in there, you just need a little time to ‘rack your brain’.

  • It will come to me shortly.

  • It's on the tip of my tongue.

    play icon

1.It will come to me shortly. This means that you are racking your brain and soon you will be able to recall/remember it because the answer is vaguely in your head. 2. It's on the tip of my tongue. When something is on the tip of your tongue then it's hovering on the edge of your memory but you are having some difficulty recalling it.
1. It will come to me shortly.(もうすぐ思い出せると思う) これは「今うっすら頭に浮かんでいて、もうすぐ思い出せそう」という意味です。 2. It's on the tip of my tongue.(のどまで出かかっている) "on the tip of your tongue" は「もう少しで思い出せそうなんだけど思い出せない」という意味です。
