The most common American word for a child's parent that bore them is mom. Children and adults will call their female parent mom. This is respectful, loving, and shows that the child or adult child sees the role of this parent in an endearing way. This is not the case all the time of course, but seems to be mostly common. The word Mommy is used by smaller children most of the time. If an adult were to say mommy it would appear to be immature. The label of mother is conservative. This parental label could imply a difficult or strict parent. Also, this is not always the case, but in some respects more often then using "mom", mother can represent a strict parent.
*mother-The parent of a child that is a woman is called mother and the man is called father.
*mum- You can also call her mum. This is an informal way.
Example sentences:
My mother is cooking rice.
My mother and father are watching TV.
*mother(お母さん)
-子供の女性の親の事です。
男性の親は"father"ですよね。
*mum(マム/ママ)
-またお母さんを"mum"と呼ぶことも出来ます。
これはカジュアルな表現です。
