そもそもこれをやりたくないんだ。
in the first place = そもそも
I'm not giving up, I just don't want to do something I don't want to do.
この場合、次のような言い方ができますよ。
ーI'm not giving up, I just don't want to do something I don't want to do.
「諦めているのではなくて、やりたくないことをただやりたくないだけです」
something I don't want to do で「私がやりたくないこと」＝「私が嫌なこと」とも言えます。
