単に後ろよりは、後ろの方に という意味で伝える方が良いですね。
その場合、Backwards が便利です。
「大体真ん中くらいから後ろの方に向かって」というような意味です。
People sitting in backwards は「後ろの方に座っている人たち」になりますので、この使いかたがいいでしょう。
会議で後ろの方に座っている方々は「At the back」を使います。
ただ、「At the back」だけでは足りないので、「Those of you at the back」や、「People at the back of the room」などを使います。
例文：
- I would like to hear all your opinions, including those of you at the back
「後ろ」は back です。
この場合は「後ろの列」ということで "back row" が使えます。

後ろの席の人は、

というのがいちばん自然だと思います。
前の席の人は、
People (sitting) in the front
または
People (sitting) at the front
といいます。
