I use two ways of checking whether my kids have finished their homework.
One way is to check if they have finished "Have you finished all your homework?" This question works if you know they have been working on their homework once they come home from school.
The most effective way is to ask them WHAT they had for homework. "What did you have for homework today?" In this way, you can check on each subject and ask your child to specify what they had to do and you can then gather whether this was completed or not.
私は、子供が宿題が終わったか確認するために2つの方法を使います。
まず一つ目が、"Have you finished all your homework?"「宿題全部終わった?」と、宿題が終わったかどうか聞きます。この質問は、子供が学校から帰って来て、宿題をしているのを知っているときに聞くといい方法です。
一番よく効く方法は、子供に何の宿題があるかを聞く方法です。"What did you have for homework today?"「今日、何の宿題がでたの?」この方法だと、それぞれの教科を確認できますし、子供に具体的に何をしないといけないのか聞き、それが終わったのかどうか確かめることができます。
You can use done or finished in this phrase. I would say 'done' is more direct and might have a slightly more strict feel. Are you done yet? Kind of impatient.
Have you finished your homework? Might seem more, just curious about it, just asking.
この場合、finishedやdoneを使って表現することができます。doneの方が直接的で少し強い言い方のように感じます。Are you done yet?「もう終わった?」は、ややせっかちでいらいらしているように聞こえます。
Have you finished your homework yet?
もう宿題は終わった?
という表現は、もう終わったかなと気にかけて、たずねているニュアンスです。
These are two ways of asking your child if their homework is completed:
"Did you already do your homework?" is implying that they should have finished it sometime beforehand. Meanwhile, "have you completed your homework?" is a way of asking before your child goes on and does something else such as playing video games, etc.
これらは子供に宿題が終わったかどうか聞く二つの方法です。
“Did you already do your homework?”
(もう宿題は終わりましたか?)
これは、もう前に宿題を終わらせておくべきということが暗示されています。
その一方で、
“Have you completed your homework?”
(宿題を終えましたか?)
これは、子供が終わらせてビデオゲームなど何か他のことをする前に聞く方法です。
When you want to ask whether your child has completed their homework, then you may ask in the following ways:
-Are you finished with your homework?
-Did you do your homework?
-Have you done your homework?
あなたが子どもに宿題が終わったかどうか聞きたいときは、以下のように聞けます:
Are you finished with your homework?
Did you do your homework?
Have you done your homework?
(宿題終わった?)
The three sentences you see above are terrific ways to ask someone, like your child, if they did their homework. In the third sentence you will see the phrase all done. This phrase means we have finished or completed something. This phrase is used often in our everyday conversation and would make a great addition to your vocabulary.
