Hide and seek is a game usually played by children where some hide and one looks for them.
Using this in a sentence:
-I told my children to play hide and seek so I could have time to myself.
Hide and seen(かくれんぼ)は、子供達の遊びで隠れた人を探すゲームです。
例：I told my children to play hide and seek so I could have time to myself.（自分の時間が欲しかったので、子供達にかくれんぼをして遊ぶように言った。）
It could depend on where you are but some people call this game hide-and-seek or hide-and-go-seek. They are the same game just said a little different according to where you are coming from. Another game like hide-and-go-seek that you play in the dark is called, "spot light".
Hide and seek is the game children play when one of them hides and the others seeks (go and find where they are)
So you could say ' My children played hide and seek the other day'

There is no other way to call this game, just Hide and Seek or Hide and Go Seek. It may be the oldest game in the world (along with Tag). It is usually played with a group of people, although I have seen it played with only 2 people as well. Usually, one player closes his eyes and counts, maybe to 10 or 20, then says,"Ready or not here I come" then goes to search for the people who have found a nice hiding place. Less common is when a group of people look for only one person, but this usually mean the player hiding is an expert and really good at the game.
