この言葉は between と使われています。例えば、ドアとドア枠の間、隙間があるということです。それは英語で、there's a gap between the door and the door frame. と言えます。
Crack には二つ意味があります。一つは gap 同じ意味です。もう一つの意味は、人工的できた隙間です。Gap は自然に起こった隙間ですけど、crack は誰かが何かを壊してからできる隙間です。Crack は動詞としても使えます。
ie: crack open the door / the window is open a crack
Opening は何かをすこしだけ開けてできる隙間です。
ie: to look through the opening in the door
