You may need a drink in order to relieve stress from work, or just to celebrate the weekend. Or perhaps there is another reason - maybe you are an alcoholic. A lot of people do not like to share the fact that they rely on alcohol in order to relieve stress....however, there are also those who have no qualms about it.
To say that you want a drink is to say that you would like to drink an alcoholic drink. You don't need to specify that it is alcohol, as in British English to say that you want a 'drink' is synonymous with drinking alcohol.
