To find something is to discover it.
Asking someone to find a seat means you want them to go and search for somewhere to sit.
You can also ask them to ''look'' for a seat.
Example:
You look for somewhere to sit, I'll get the food.
or
I'll look for somewhere to sit, you get the food.
「find」は「discover(見つける)」という意味です。
「find a seat(席を見つける)」は、人に座る所を探してくるようお願いする時に使えます。
また「look for a seat(席を探す)」という言い方もできます。
例:
You look for somewhere to sit, I'll get the food.
(私、食べ物もらうから、席探しといて)
I'll look for somewhere to sit, you get the food.
(私、席探すから、食べ物よろしく)
Would you reserve a seat for us while I place the order?
The first example sentence is more informal than the second. Use the first sentence for family or friends and the second in work or more formal situations.
If I go to order at the counter could you find us a seat?
The first answer is an informal way of asking someone to find a table/seat for you both. Usually when eating it is normal to sit at a table, and so in English we would more commonly ask that person to look for a table as the table will have seats already.
The second answer is a polite way of asking someone to find you a table/seat whilst you order their food for them. This can be used in informal situations too.
A 'counter' is the same as a register.
I'll order for us, if you could go and get us a seat.
While I am ordering the food, could you find us somewhere to sit?
Would you mind if, while I order, you could go and get us a place to sit?
You could ask a person politely to find a seat for you both as you are ordering, you can ask "Would you mind if, while I order, you could go and get us a place to sit?"
