NO NAMEさんの英訳はいいですね！一応「register」の前に「cash」を入れておきましたが、なくても通じるでしょう。
例文２はもっと一般的にして「lock up the money」にして、お金は何に入れたらいいか説明していないです。レジとか、金庫とか。それに、現在形の「When you turn your back」の代わりに「If you're going to」（～をする前に）という「これから」の状態にしました。
If you're going to look away from customers, you should put the money in the till first.
この場合、次のような言い方ができますよ。
ーIf you're going to look away from customers, you should put the money in the till first.
「お客様に背を向けるなら、まずお金をレジにしまって」
to look away from ... 「…から目を離す・背ける」
till で「レジ・現金を入れる引き出し」
