もし、「I prefer to eat at restaurants」だけと言えば、相手は「カフェや居酒屋より」と考えるだと思いますから、「to eat out」を書きました。

「Can't be bothered to (do something)」と 「to be too lazy to (do something)」 はこういう場合よく使っている表現です。

Myself

Cook for myself

  • I'm too lazy to cook so I prefer to eat out.

It's important to use the word "too" before lazy because you are quantifying something. In American English we use the phrase "eat out" to talk about eating at restaurant. I hope that this helps. :)

When you want to explain that you prefer eating at restaurants rather than making food for yourself (because you are too lazy too cook); then you may explain in the following ways:
-I prefer eating out because cooking for myself can be such a schlep
-I prefer eating out because it's convenient and I hate cooking

-I prefer eating out because cooking for myself can be such a schlep(食事を作るのは面倒なので外食の方が好きです)

-I prefer eating out because it's convenient and I hate cooking(楽なので外食の方が好きです。

You like eating at restaurants rather than making food yourself, because you feel too lazy to cook at home. You can explain this point by using one of the abovementioned suggestions.

  • I prefer eating out as cooking for myself is so much hassle

  • I can't be bothered to cook for myself so tend to eat out instead

  • I'm too lazy to cook so eat out alot

    play icon

If you are saying you don't enjoy cooking for yourself and find it alot of trouble then you can say you ' can't be bothered' or you are 'too lazy' to do something you can also say 'it is too much hassle'
If you like to do something more than something else (eating out rather than cooking) then you would say you prefer to do it
I can't be bothered'(面倒くさい)または 'I'm too lazy'(同)と言えます。
他に、'it is too much hassle'(面倒くさい)と言うこともできます。
