Even during meals I can't help checking my phone.
日本語の「スマホを触ってしまう」の「触る」はtouchではなくcheckの方がいいです。
英語ではsmartphoneとも言うんですが、今はほとんどの人がスマホだし、コンテキストからスマホだとわかるので、わざわざsmartphoneとは言わず、phoneだけで十分です。
