２倍以下って英語でなんて言うの？

「〜以下」は、 　not more than 〜 　not exceed 〜　（exceedは動詞） を使います。どちらも「〜を越えない」ので「〜以下」に当たります。 次に、 「横の長さ」は width（幅） 「縦の長さ」は depth（奥行き）、または length と表します。 （「高さ」は height です。） また、「〜の２倍」は、ふつうは 　twice as many/much as の形で、数なら many、量なら much を使いますが、今回の縦・横の比較ではこのままでは使えません。 そこで、twice のもう１つの使い方 　twice the size of 〜（〜の大きさの２倍） 　twice the amount of（〜の金額の２倍） のパターンを使います。つまり、「横は縦の２倍だ」なら 　The width of this box is twice its depth. となります。 （its depth = the depth of the box） これに最初の not more than を加えて、 　The width of this box is not more than twice its depth. あるいは、not exceed の形だと 　The width of this box does not exceed twice its depth. が回答になります。 最後に「縦と横」の例文を補足します。 　If the area of a rectangle is 200 square centimeter and its length is twice its width, find the length and width. 　（長方形の面積が200平方センチメートルで、縦が横の２倍の時、縦と横を求めなさい）
