「接する」とは、人に対応することですね。まだ海の物とも山のものともわからない新人に対してなら「対応する」という意味の、deal with 〜をよく使います。このイディオムは、基本的に「〜に対して何かを講じる」という意味があるので、ちょっとめんどくさそうな新人の扱いにはぴったりでしょう。
handleを使うのも、それに近い表現ですが、deal with 〜よりも、「うまくいくように」とか「首尾よく」というニュアンスが加味されます。
tend toというイディオムを使っても言えます。tend to 〜は「〜の傾向がある」や「〜しがちだ」という意味で覚えている人も多いと思いますが、このtendは、「広げる」という意味が核にあるので、「人に心を向ける」ことから「注意を向ける」、また「つき合う」や「世話をする」などという意味のattendに似たニュアンスになります。
