「水を汲む」は draw water と言えなくもないですが、固い言い方になってしまうので例文のような言い方が自然で良いかと思います。
1) I'm going to get some water from the river.
「川から水を汲んできます。」
get some water from the river を使った言い方。
2) I'm going to fill some buckets with water from the river.
「バケツに川の水を汲んでくる。」
fill some buckets with water で「バケツに水を汲む」
