対抗すると言う動詞は「Compete」になります。
「競う」と言う意味です。
日本の運動会を説明するなら以下の文書が参考になるかと思います：
- On sports day in Japan, classes divide into red and white teams and compete over several games. For example, rope-pulling and dodgeball. It's all very fun.
「対抗する」は英語で「compete (against ～)」といいます。
At the school sports festival, there are events where different classes compete against each other and also events where teams such as the red team or white team made up of students across all the grades compete against each other.
(運動会ではクラス別に対抗する競技と、紅組・白組といった学年を超えた組に分かれて対抗する競技があります。)

こんにちは。「対抗する」は英語で、oppose と言います。次のような使い方があります。

Opponent = 対抗する相手
Opposition = 対抗
compete も言えます。
There were thousands of competitors [ または runners competing ] at the marathon. = マラソンで数千人のランナーが対抗していた。
This company is no longer competitive. = 弊社はもう対抗意識がないじゃないか。
to contradict というのは「対抗する」という意味を表しています。
to rise against というのは「反対する」という意味です。
たとえば、
The new decision contradicts to the previous one.
新しい決定は、前の決定と矛盾しています。
The employees will rise against injustice at the workplace.
従業員は職場での不正に対して立ち上がるでしょう。
