1.) to identify (識別する) 「識別する」は英語で難しく言うかもしれないですが、一番近いの言葉はto identifyと言えます。To identifyは色の違いや人の違いを判別するということです。
例えば、
Some men have trouble identifying the difference between green and red. (ある男性は緑色と赤色の違いを識別しがたいです)
「識別する」という言葉を英語で表すと、「identify」という言葉も「distinguish」という言葉も使っても良いと考えました。この二つの言葉は動詞です。例えば、「The police must identify the person who committed the crime.」という文章を使っても良いと考えました。「Police」は「警察」という意味があって、「commit the crime」は「犯罪を犯す」という意味があります。「Must ~」は「〜をしなければなりません」です。
この三つの動詞は普通に「between」という前置詞と一緒に使われています。Distinguish は一番よく使われているの方ですから、一番使いやすいです。Discriminate と言うと、否定的な気がすることが多いです。Identify は between と使わなくても大丈夫ときもあります。
この青色とその青色の違いについてはなしなら、以下を言えます。
I can't distinguish between this blue and that one.
It's hard to discriminate between these two blues.
I can't identify the difference between this blue and that one.
(I can't identify which blue is which.)
