「flash in the pan」についてですが、英辞郎第八版によると、「pan」は「（火打ち石銃の）火皿」との意味です。
火皿とは、火薬を入れておく場所で、引き金を引くと火打ち石が当たり金にぶつかり、その火花が火皿の火薬に点火する仕組みです。
「flash」は「（光・炎の一瞬の）きらめき, 閃光（せんこう）」を意味します。
「flash in the pan」は、火打ち石銃が火皿の中で発火するものの空発に終わる様子から「一時的な成功（者）」を意味するようになりました。
一方「one-hit wonder」は「ヒット曲1曲限りで消えてしまう流行歌手」（ジーニアス英和大辞典）との意味で、主にミュージシャンについて用いられます。

One-hit wonder is A performer or act, usually a singer or band, who has just one popular success.
In this case, the word "hit" means popular song or act.
一発のヒット知られている人を one-hit wonder と呼びます。一曲だけ有名なヒット曲がある歌手に用いられる事が多い表現ですが one-hit wonder comedian といえば芸人にも使えます。
また、「一発」に限りませんが一時有名だったのにそれ以来人気の落ちてしまった芸能人などを has-been と呼びます。（”He has been popular but not anymore." から）
