海外では日本=東京のイメージが強いので、日本にも田舎があると言うと驚かれますよ。
A hick town "hick"は「田舎者」です。Don't be a hick. 「田舎くさいこと言わないでよ」
The sticks "stick"は「小枝」などを意味しますが、複数形で「ど田舎」です。
The middle of nowhere は「どこからも[遠い](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/38600/)所」→「人里離れたところ」
「私はど田舎出身です。」"I'm from the sticks."
「私の故郷はど田舎です。」"My hometown is in the middle of nowhere."
"Countryside" has more positive connotations as compared with "the sticks" or "remote," which are also great options. But if you have positive feelings about the area, I could call it, "countryside." For example, "My parents have a nice little house out in the countryside where they know all their neighbors."

1.A remote countryside is usually many miles away from a towns or cities.
2. Behind God's back.
This is an informal expression to mean a place that is very far away.
Example:-
"She is living behind God's back, it takes many hours to get to her home."

because it usually means that those people

"They live out in the sticks" means that they live in
the countryside where there are many twigs and
trees.

- The countryside refers to an area that is more land rather than city. It provides this idea that you would probably see a lot of farms and/or green fields.
- A very remote location simply refers to the idea that it is a city that is very far away from the amenities or comforts that big city life might be able to provide.
- The sticks is a unique way to express this concept of being remote and isolated but also has this idea that you would be surrounded by tree's and more located in an area in or with forests nearby.
"The countryside" は、「(都会ではなく)田舎」を指します。農場や野原がたくさんあるイメージです。
"A very remote location" は人里離れた場所をいいます。都会の便利さのない所です。
"The sticks" は「人里離れた田舎」のユニークな言い方です。「森に囲まれた」というニュアンスがあります。
