「会話が進むにつれ、会話についていくのが困難になってきました。」
have trouble keeping up with で「〜についていくのか困難である」
2) I have difficulty following the conversation as it goes along.
「会話が進むにつれ、会話についていくのが難しくなってきました。」
follow the conversation でも「会話についていく」と言えます。
