"Homebody" is generally a light term to describe a person who likes to stay home and watch TV, play videogames, or read, they prefer to stay at home on the weekends rather than go out to a bar.
A homebody isn't a bad phrase, some people will actually say that about themselves. I, myself, am actually a homebody sometimes.
A "couch potato" is a lazy person, we call them couch potatoes because they sit on the couch all day and never go out.

These people may go so far as to "live off the grid" which would mean to not be dependant on the government, society and it's products.
However, the term loner is more commonly used for people who are not concerned with others opinions of them and would rather be solitary even when in public places.

引きこもり is not directly translated into English. It is a type of extreme personality who doesn't like to socialize with anyone.
For someone who stays at home and doesn't talk to other people, we could call them a 'shut-in' or a 'hermit'. Someone who likes to remain at home instead of going out could be a 'homebody'.
A person who has difficulty socializing and stays at home because of it would be called 'anti-social'.
