  • I want to enjoy talking together.

  • I'd like to enjoy having a conversation together.

  • I would like to have a chat together.

Let's have a chat about everyday things, and not use any of the teaching materials or suggested conversation topics.

  • Can we just have a casual conversation?

  • I would like to have an informal chat.

I would like to skip the formal lesson material and have an informal chat to find out more about your country. I prefer having a casual conversation today if you don't mind. If you want a relaxed and easy-going talk, let's forget about the lesson material for today.

  • I would like us to just chat.

  • I would like a general chat rather than use specific materials.

"I would just like a general chat".-A general chat means not about any specific subject, just talking about whatever comes to mind, whether it's about the weather or about your hobbies. "I'd prefer to just chat than to use any specific materials".
"I would just like a general chat".(フリートークがしたいです) 'A general chat' とは、特定のテーマについて話すのではなく、天気や趣味などその時思いついたことを自由に話すことをいいます。 "I'd prefer to just chat than to use any specific materials"(教材などは使わず自由におしゃべりをしたいです)

  • I would just like to chat

  • I would like to have some free conversation

  • I do not want to do the material, but would just like to talk.

When you want to express that you just would like to talk in a lesson and not do lesson material; then you may express this in the following ways: -I would just like to chat -I would like to have some free conversation -I do not want to do the material, but would just like to talk. -I just want to practice speaking. We can just use the class to chat.
-I would just like to chat(おしゃべりをしたいです) -I would like to have some free conversation(フリートークをしたいです) -I do not want to do the material, but would just like to talk.(教材ではなく、会話をしたいです) -I just want to practice speaking. We can just use the class to chat.(スピーキングの練習をしたいです。

  • I would just like to have a casual conversation.

  • Today I would just like to have a casual chat for my lesson.

If you would like to tell your teacher that you would just like to have a casual chat for your lesson, you can say something like "I would just like to have a casual conversation." or "Today I would just like to have a casual chat for my lesson.".
"I would just like to have a casual conversation."(雑談をしたいです) "Today I would just like to have a casual chat for my lesson."(今日のレッスンではおしゃべりをしたいです)

  • I would like to have free talk today.

  • I would like to have a general conversation.

  • I feel like just chatting today, not focusing on the lesson topic.

Free talk: means just having a general conversation about any particular subject or many subjects, it could be about "You, where you live?, what you enjoy doing?" Not focusing on the lesson topic: means that you don't want to give your entire attention to the lesson topic. Today I would rather focus on having a general conversation with you.
Not focusing on the lesson topic:「テーマを決めずにレッスンをしたい」という意味です。 Today I would rather focus on having a general conversation with you.(今日は、自由に雑談をしたいです)

  • I would like to practice informal communication.

When you make a request, it is always very polite to use the phrase "would like." "Informal communication" is an effective way to describe the fact that you just want to chat. I hope that this helps. :)

  • Can we just chat?

  • Can we just talk about random things casually?

During an online English lesson, when you want to just chat (like when talking to a friend, not about any certain topic), you want to know what to say when you would like to just chat casually.

  • I would like to have a free conversation without any specific topic today

  • Today, if it's alright, I would like to have a very informal chat with you

A free conversation is a conversation that doesn't have any topic. Anything can be discussed in the lesson such as your country, the weather, hobbies, likes, and dislikes. An informal chat has much the same meaning. When we say informal we mean that it will be very casual, relaxed and friendly
