We often use the phrase "to take a taxi" or to "get a taxi" and sometimes even use the phrase "to grab a taxi".
Any of the three variations will accurately express that you want to hire a taxi to take you somewhere.
The formal way to ask where you should go is to ask the person if they have any suggestions...
"to take a taxi" または to "get a taxi" 、時々"to grab a taxi".という表現を使います。

It isn't necessary to say that you want to get a taxi - just asking where you can find one will indicate clearly to the listener that you want one. If you did need to say it however in another context, you could say: "I need to get a taxi." Otherwise a brief query such as:
"Is there a taxi rank round here?" or, "Would you know where I can find a taxi, please?" is quite sufficient.
Taxi rank = a place where taxis wait for passengers.
