「届ける」はgiveとかturn inとかturn overとかhand overなどに訳せます。turn inとturn overとhand over/inは特別な使い方で、上記のturned over the dropped itemに使えるか間に「落とし物」をいれるかどっちでもできます。
例文：I handed the dropped item over to the conductor.
