「ギリギリ」とか「かろうじて」は英語で it was close（直訳：近かった、あとちょっとだった）とか barely と言います。
The flood was very bad and the water came up very high but thankfully my house was okay. （洪水はかなり悪く水は高い位置まで来たがありがたいことに自宅は大丈夫だった）
The flood caused a lot of damage but my house barely made it.
（水害の被害は大きかったが自宅はギリギリ大丈夫でした）
There was a flood near my house the other day, and it was a close call, but my house was fine.
この場合、次のような言い方ができますよ。
ーThere was a flood near my house the other day, and it was a close call, but my house was fine.
「先日、家の近くで冠水がありましたが、自宅はかろうじて大丈夫でした」
a flood で「洪水・冠水」
it was a close call で「危ないところだった・危機一髪であった」
