An ability means you are able to do something or have the control to do something. If you are losing your ability to hear, that means that you have no control over it and that you are simply losing your hearing.
I am hearing-impaired
If you are hearing-impaired, that means you are partially deaf. If you are partially deaf, it just means that you can hear to an extent. It usually can also mean that you are slowly losing your hearing until you become completely deaf. By saying this, you are simply saying that you are becoming deaf.
I think I am going deaf
If you are deaf, that means that you cannot hear at all. So by saying this, you are just saying that you think you are going to lose all of your hearing.
