鍋などの「蓋」は英語で "lid" と言います。「閉める」は "shut" "close" "put" どちらも使えますが、"shut" は密閉する容器など、蓋を押さえて閉める容器によく使われます。
例文：

Please close the lid of the box. 「箱の蓋を閉めてください。」
