上記の文章をように、部下に指示を出すときに、明日はいないので、その間にこれやっといてほしいと述べる際の、「〜の間」は、meanwhile、meantimeが正しいといえます。
例えば、
I’m going to go on vacation, meanwhile, I want you guys to do all the work that I have left behind in my stead.
旅行に行くので、その間に、君たちには、私の残した全ての仕事の処理をやっておいてほしい。

"I won't be here tomorrow. In the meanwhile, could you do this instead of me?
"Could you do this instead of me while I'm away?"
"instead of ~"は、「～の代わりに」
