I don't like は何かが嫌な時、嫌いな物などに使います。
I don't like it when 〜と言うと　「〜の時が嫌い」となります。
I don't want 〜　と言うと　「〜が欲しくない、〜して欲しくない」と言うときに使います。

I don't like it when people try to help me with my work.
人が私の仕事を手伝おうとしてくるのが嫌です。

I don't want other people to be helping me with my job.
私の仕事を他の人に手伝って欲しくない。
