How'd the day go/How did the day go. とてもフランクな聞き方です。簡単に言うと「今日どうだった？」
Did you have a good day? 気にかけてる感じが読み取れます。「あなたの一日は楽しかった？」相手を先に置き質問をする事は相手を気にかけてる言い方だと取れます。もちろん会話の始まり方や声のトーンで少し意味は変わります。
How was your day? 定番の答えだと思います。直訳しても「あなたの一日どうでした・どうだった」という言い方です。

It's quite common for partners to call each other darling, honey, babe etc. so I could say; hi darling how was your day?
