今の平等な社会は故人による努力があったからこそ、って英語でなんて言うの？

〜was formed through the struggles of people in our past
~is a result of the hard work of people in the past
~は故人による努力があったからこそ
故人は直訳的にthe deadやthe deceasedになりますが、こう言う文章ではちょっと不自然です。英語で「過去の人・people in the past」や「我々の過去での人・people in our past」の方が自然な表現です。
「努力」はeffortでもstruggleでも通じますが、struggleの方が「苦しみ、大変さ」と言うニュアンスが含まれています。

今の平等な社会は
Modern social equality（今の社会的な平等)
The egalitarian society of today (今の平等主義の社会)
The equal society of todayもOKです。
