Miss = a title for young, unmarried women
Ms = a title for unmarried older women (or women who do not want to say if they are married!) "Ms Jones is a quiet woman who does not discuss her private life."
A spinster = an unmarried woman and usually an older unmarried woman who has not formed a regular relationship with a man. It is probably derogatory and is rarely used.
The term 'Unmarried' or 'Single' are the usual descriptions.

Usually unmarried people are just referred to as "single" regardless of their gender.

Ms and Miss is used if you want to use a title before an unmarried female's name. Ms is used for an older woman and Miss is used for a young woman.

"Miss Sarah just graduated from undergraduate college."

The use of 'maiden' or 'spinster' is dependent on the age of the woman.

A 25 year old woman that is not married is considered to be a maiden.
A 40 year old woman that is not married is considered to be a spinster.

A single mother is a woman who takes care of her child alone without the help of the father.
Singlehood is the state of being unmarried or not in a romantic relationship, it refers to both men and women.
In the UK someone who isn't married isn't single, but on forms outside of the UK that may not be the case. So Women who are not married are single in other countries but I don't think that they are in the UK. You could call a woman who is not married 'Single' but that applies to women who are not dating someone. But you can call them single, it is correct but in some parts of the world single means no one else or on its own.
