「思いがけない場所」は英語で次のように言えます。
ーan unexpected place
ーa place one wasn't expecting to ...
例：
Our tour guide took us to our tour destinations, then he also took us to some local spots we weren't expecting to go to.
「私たちのツアーガイドが目的地に連れて行ってくれて、それから思いがけないローカルスポットにも連れて行ってくれた」
some local spots we weren't expecting to go to で「行くのを予期していなかったローカルスポット」＝「思いがけないローカルスポット」
